How do I create and manage coupons?
About coupons
With coupons, you create discount codes for your customers. Your customers enter the code during booking and automatically receive the discount you've set. It's a handy tool for attracting new customers, rewarding loyal ones or launching targeted campaigns for specific occasions. For example, a welcome discount for the first booking or a summer campaign with a limited runtime.
You decide how high the discount is, how long it's valid and how often it can be redeemed. That way, you always keep full control over your discount campaigns.
Where to find your coupons
You'll find the feature in your dashboard in the Coupons section. There you see an overview of all the codes you've already created, with the most important information at a glance: Name, Code, Discount, Valid until, Redemptions, Status and Action.
If a coupon is about to expire, the date in the Valid until column is highlighted in color. That way, you can see at a glance which campaigns are ending soon. Using the search field, you can quickly find a specific coupon again, and with the Viewbutton in the top right you decide which columns are displayed.
Creating a new coupon
Click on + Create coupon in the top right. A form opens where you define all the details of your discount code.
Name
The name is only for your internal overview. Your customers don't see it. Choose a name that helps you find the coupon easily later, for example Summer campaign or Welcome discount.
Description
Here you can optionally add a short note about the coupon. This field is also only visible to you and helps you keep track of your various campaigns.
Code
The code is what your customers enter during booking. You can assign your own code, for example SUMMER25. If you leave the field empty, Slotlify automatically generates a code for you. Each code must be unique and can't be assigned twice.
Discount type
Here you define how the discount is calculated. You have two options:
- Percentage (%) – the discount corresponds to a percentage share of the booking price, for example 25 percent.
- Fixed amount – the discount is a fixed sum of money, for example 10 euros.
Depending on your choice, the next field adapts. For a percentage, you enter the percentage value, for a fixed amount the corresponding sum of money.
Valid from and Valid until
With these two fields, you control the validity period of your coupon. In the Valid from field, you define when the code can start being redeemed. In the Valid until field, you determine when it expires. If you leave the fields empty, the coupon is valid without any time restriction.
Minimum order value
Here you define the minimum cart value a booking must reach for the coupon to be redeemable. If you set the value to 50 euros, for example, the code can only be used for bookings from 50 euros. If you leave the field at 0.00, there's no minimum value.
Maximum redemptions
With this field, you limit how often the coupon can be redeemed in total. If you enter a 1, for example, the code can only be used a single time. If you leave the field empty, redemption is possible without limit.
Active
The Active checkbox controls whether the coupon is ready for use. If you uncheck it, the code is blocked without you having to delete it. This is handy when you want to pause a campaign temporarily.
Once all details are correct, click on Create coupon. The new code then appears in your overview and, depending on the settings, is active immediately.
Editing and managing coupons
In the overview, the Status column shows you for each coupon whether it's currently active. The Redemptions column shows you how often the code has already been used. If a limit is set, you also see how many redemptions are possible in total.
Using the button in the Action column, you open a menu with two options for each coupon: Edit and Delete. If you choose Edit, a form opens that's identical to the creation form. That way, you can, for example, adjust the discount, extend the validity period or temporarily block the coupon via the Active field. With Delete, you remove a coupon permanently.
If you only want to disable a code temporarily, it's better to use the Active field in the editing view instead of deleting it. That way, the coupon is preserved and you can reactivate it at any time later.
Good to know
A coupon only becomes effective for your customers when it's active, falls within the valid period and hasn't yet reached its redemption limit. Check these three points if a code doesn't work during booking. And it's best to test a new coupon yourself once before you pass it on to your customers.
