How do I set up tax settings?
About tax settings
In Slotlify, you can define once how taxes are calculated and displayed on invoices for your studio. This ensures that all automatically generated invoices are correct and reflect your tax situation.
The settings apply to each organization separately. If you run multiple locations, you can configure individual tax settings for each one.
Where to find tax settings
You'll find the tax settings in the dashboard under Konto > Unternehmen, in the Steuereinstellungen section.
Kleinunternehmer (§ 19 UStG)
The Kleinunternehmer (§ 19 UStG) option is specific to Germany. It applies to businesses that fall under the German small business regulation and are not required to charge VAT.
If you activate this option, no VAT amount will be shown on your invoices. Slotlify automatically adds the legally required notice: „Gemäß § 19 UStG wird keine Umsatzsteuer berechnet." (In accordance with § 19 of the German VAT Act, no VAT is charged.)
If this regulation does not apply to you, leave the option disabled and configure your tax rate in the next step.
Price input mode
The price input mode tells Slotlify how to interpret the prices you enter for your services.
- Gross prices (prices incl. VAT): The price you enter already includes VAT. Slotlify calculates the net amount and tax portion automatically.
- Net prices (prices excl. VAT): The price you enter is the net amount. Slotlify adds VAT on top.
Example: you enter €20.00 with 19% VAT.
- Gross mode: net €16.81 + VAT €3.19 = €20.00 total
- Net mode: net €20.00 + VAT €3.80 = €23.80 total
Default tax rate
The default tax rate is the rate applied to your services by default. You can select it from your existing tax rates or create a new one directly.
You manage your tax rates under Konto > Steuersätze. There you can add multiple rates and set one as the default.
Saving your settings
Click Speichern to apply your tax settings. All invoices generated after that point will be based on this configuration.
Good to know
- Tax settings do not affect invoices that have already been created. Existing documents remain unchanged.
- Which tax status and rate applies to you depends on your individual tax situation. Slotlify provides the technical configuration but does not replace tax advice. If in doubt, consult a tax advisor.
- If you switch between gross and net mode, the price shown to customers will change for the same entered amount. Check your prices after switching.
