Create a service
How to create a service in Slotlify
A service is one of the most important building blocks in Slotlify. When you create a service, you are creating your actual bookable product.
This can be, for example, a tennis training session, a yoga class, a dance workshop, a consultation, a treatment, a seminar, or any other offer that your customers can later book.
In the service, you define what is offered, how much it costs, who provides it, how many people can participate, and which additional information is important for the booking.
Open the services section
To create a new service, first open your dashboard.
Then go to:
Services > Manage services > + Add new
The page “Create new service” will open. Here you can enter all important information about your offer.
Activate or deactivate the service
At the top of the page, you will find the option “Service active”.
If this option is enabled, the service is visible to customers and can be used.
If you deactivate the service, it will not be visible to customers. This is useful if you want to prepare an offer first but do not want to show it publicly yet. You can fully set up a service and activate it later.
Select the service type
In the Service type section, you choose what kind of service you want to create.
Slotlify has two types of services:
Single session
Course with multiple sessions
This choice is important because it defines how your offer will be booked later.
Single session
A single session is an offer that is booked for one specific appointment.
This can be, for example:
- A tennis training session
- A yoga class
- A consultation
- A workshop appointment
- A treatment
A single session can later be connected to a one-time event or to a recurring event.
This means you can offer a service once or repeat it regularly, for example every Monday at 6:00 PM.
When customers book a single session, they book exactly the appointment they selected.
You can find more details in the section “How to create an event”.
Course with multiple sessions
A course consists of several connected sessions.
This is useful when your offer is not just one appointment, but a fixed series of sessions.
Examples:
- Beginner yoga course with 8 sessions
- Dance course over 10 weeks
- Tennis course with 6 training sessions
- Workshop series with 4 modules
When you select the service type “Course”, an additional field appears. There you enter how many sessions this course contains.
Important: the course price is the total price for all sessions together.
When a customer books the course, all sessions of this course are booked at once. The customer does not register for only one individual session, but for the complete course.
You can find more details in the section “How to create a course”.
Upload a service image
In the Service image section, you can upload an image for your service.
Drag the image file into the upload area or click the area to select a file from your computer.
A good image helps your customers understand your offer more quickly. It also makes your catalog clearer and more professional.
Use a clear and suitable image. The file may be up to 1 MB in size.
Enter the service name
In the Service name field, enter the name of your offer.
Examples:
- Tennis training for beginners
- Vinyasa Yoga
- Pilates group class
- Standard dance course
- Nutrition consultation
- Back fitness training
The name is required. Without a name, the service cannot be created.
It is best to choose a name that clearly describes what your customers can book. Avoid very general names like “Training” or “Course” if you have several similar offers.
Set the price
In the Price field, enter the price for your service.
For a single session, this is the price for one appointment.
For a course, this is the total price for all sessions in the course.
Example:
If your course consists of 8 sessions and costs €120 in total, enter 120 as the price.
If one training session costs €25, enter 25.
Make sure the price is easy for your customers to understand. Especially for courses, it should be clear later that the displayed price applies to the entire course.
Select categories
In the Categories field, you can select one or more categories that match your service.
Categories help you organize your offers more clearly. They also allow customers to filter events by category in the catalog later.
Examples:
- Sport
- Yoga
- Dance
- Wellness
- Workshops
If you have not created a suitable category yet, you can use the plus button next to the field to quickly create a new category without leaving the page.
Still, it is usually useful to create categories beforehand in the Services > Categories section. This keeps the service creation process faster and clearer.
Select staff
In the Staff field, you select who provides or leads this service.
This can be a trainer, instructor, teacher, coach, therapist, or another team member.
If you created your staff beforehand, you can simply select the right person from the list.
If the person does not exist yet, you can use the plus button to create a new staff member directly. This is useful if you notice during setup that someone is still missing.
Still, you save time if you prepare your staff in advance.
Select the difficulty level
In the Difficulty level field, you can specify which level your service is suitable for.
Examples:
- Beginner
- Intermediate
- Advanced
- Pro
- Level 1
- Level 2
This helps your customers better understand whether the offer is right for them.
It is also useful for you because it helps you create groups with a similar level. This way, you avoid putting beginners and very advanced participants into the same course if that does not make sense.
If the right difficulty level is still missing, you can create it directly using the plus button.
Select accessories
In the Accessories field, you can select accessories that belong to this service.
This is useful if customers need or can book additional equipment for your offer.
Examples:
- Tennis racket
- Tennis balls
- Yoga mat
- Towel
- Protective equipment
For example, if you offer tennis training, you can assign tennis rackets or balls here. Your customers will then see later which accessories are available.
If you have not created the accessory yet, you can add it directly using the plus button.
Enter the capacity
In the Capacity field, enter how many people can book this service at most.
Examples:
If only one person can participate, enter 1.
If your group course is intended for a maximum of 12 people, enter 12.
If your workshop has 20 places, enter 20.
Capacity is important so that no more bookings are accepted than there are actual places available.
Choose a realistic value here. A capacity that is too high can cause organizational problems later if more customers book than you can properly handle.
Add a description
In the Description field, explain what your service is about.
Describe briefly and clearly what your customers can expect.
You can mention, for example:
- what is included in the service
- who the offer is suitable for
- what the goal of the offer is
- whether previous experience is required
- what customers should bring
- whether accessories are optional or required
Example:
This tennis training is designed for beginners and recreational players. You will learn the most important basic strokes, improve your technique, and train in a small group with personal guidance. Tennis rackets can be booked additionally if needed.
The description is required. It helps your customers understand your offer better and make a confident booking decision.
Save the service
Once you have entered all information, click “Create service”.
The service will then be saved and will be available for the next steps.
Depending on the service type, you can then create suitable events or courses and connect them to this service.
Cancel the entry
If you do not want to create the service after all, click “Cancel”.
In this case, your entries will not be saved and you will return to the previous section.
Why the service is the most important step
The service is the foundation of your offer in Slotlify.
Categories, staff, difficulty levels, and accessories help you describe and structure your service more precisely. But the service itself is the central element from which bookable events or courses are created later.
That is why it is worth filling out this step carefully. The clearer your service is described, the easier it is for your customers to understand what they are booking, what it costs, and whether the offer is right for them.
